А в 1966 г. Набоков - без шуток - перевел "Сентиментальный марш" и напечатал его в "Нью-Йоркере". В комментариях к "симпозиумовскому" пятитомнику цитируется первая строфа:
Speranza, I am coming home
The day the bugler sounds retreat,
When to his lips he brings the bugle
And backward his sharp elbow turns.
